The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, speaks like someone under influence.

“It is distressing that Asiwaju Tinubu speaks like someone under the influence with incoherent discourse and absence of mind that further expose a lack of capacity for leadership especially at the presidential level,” the opposition party fired in a statement signed by its spokesman Debo Ologunagba on Sunday.

The party was reacting to a jab by Mr Tinubu wherein he boasted that the APC will bury PDP in the 2023 election, adding that the opposition failed in the 16 years it held power at the centre.

“Why do we have to worry about them? But just wait for the calendar, the day of the voting and we dig their graveyards and dump them there. We need not to worry about the PDP; Poverty Development Party,” he said at a function on Saturday.

But Mr Ologunagba reckoned that the APC flag bearer was suffering from mental breakdown. He said Mr Tinubu was responsible for heralding the Buhari regime that has destroyed economic and social well-being of the country in the last seven years.

“Nigerians gave Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu the benefit of the doubt but he failed them by engineering a deceitful government leading to the ugly indices of insecurity and bloodletting, economic hardship, unemployment, disunity and low life expectancy imposed on our nation in the last seven years,” the statement reads in part.

The former Lagos governor will be up against Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, Labour Party’s Peter Obi and host of other candidates for the top job in Africa’s most populous country in 2023.
