Prophet remanded in Ekiti for defiling teenage girl

The Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ado Ekiti, has ordered the remand of Olorunfemi Adebowale, 25, at the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Ado Ekiti, for raping a 13-year-old minor.
The Magistrate, Saka Afunsho, ordered the defendant to be remanded pending the issuance of the Director of Public Prosecution’s opinion and adjourned the case until October 17.
The Police prosecutor, Olumide Bamigbade, had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on or about May 16, in Ikole Ekiti Magistrate District.
Mr Bamigbade said that the defendant, a Shepherd (Olusho) at the Celestial Church of Christ in Ikole Ekiti area, lured the victim and had intercourse with her on several occasions.
The prosecutor said the offence was punishable under Section 31(2) of the Child Rights Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to remand the defendant for the police to conclude their investigation and forward the duplicate case file to the director of public prosecution’s office for legal advice.
