Kwara United Football Club on Friday landed at the Aeroport Diori Hamani de Niamey Airport, ahead of the CAF Confederation Cup second leg first round encounter against AS Douanes of Niger Republic.
The media officer of the club, Jimoh Bashir, confirmed this in a statement.
He said the 33-man contingent, led by the executive chairman of the state sports commission, Bola Mogaji, and Shehu Gusau of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) arrived at Niamey at about 6:25 p.m.
The team, which left Nigeria at about 1:45 p.m. aboard an Air Cote-D’Ivoire Airbus, had a brief stop-over in Abidjan.
The team is lodged at Hotel Tenere in Central Niamey, not too far from Stade General Senyi Kountche, where the match will take place on Sunday.
Nigeria’s representative at the continental championship will go into Sunday’s crucial match with a 3-0 advantage from the first leg.
According to the media officer, the club chairman, Kumbi Titiloye, reminded the players and the technical crew to approach the match with utmost seriousness.
He commended Kwara Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his support to the team, promising that they will scale through the Niamey hurdle.
