Europa League Draw: Manchester United to play Barcelona in high profile playoff match

Manchester United will face Barcelona in the highest profile game of the UEFA Europa League playoff round of matches following a draw for the knockout phase that took place at the UEFA headquarters in Nyoman, Switzerland on Monday.
The Red Devils, who finished second in their group behind Real Sociedad, are paired against Barcelona that were demoted from the Champions League.
Both teams haven’t played each other in the second tier European competition but have seen quite some action in the Champions League, with Barcelona having the upper hand.
The Catalans have won five of the last ten matches between the two clubs in Europe. Four have ended in a draw, while Manchester United only managed to win one.
Sixteen teams will be participating in this phase of the Europa League, including eight teams that finished as runners up from their respective groups and another eight teams that dropped down from the Champions League.
In other matches for the knockout phase playoffs, Juventus will face Nantes, Sporting Lisbon paired against Midtjylland and Shakhtar Donetsk drawn against Rennes.
Ajax, who were finalists in 2017, will lock horns with Union Berlin, Bayer Leverkusen will play AS Monaco, Sevilla against PSV and Salzburg will face AS Roma.
The two legs will be played on February 16 and 23, 2023, with overall winners of each match progressing to the Round of 16 draw scheduled for February 24, 2023.
