Police arraign artisan for stealing two-year-old baby 

A 39-year-old artisan, Soliu Oladejo, was on Tuesday arraigned in the Oyo State Family Court in Iyaganku for allegedly stealing a two-year baby.

A 39-year-old artisan, Soliu Oladejo, was on Tuesday arraigned in the Oyo State Family Court in Iyaganku for allegedly stealing a two-year baby.

The police charged Mr Oladejo with conspiracy and child stealing.

The prosecution counsel, Insp Folake Ewe, told the court that the defendant and others at large conspired to commit the offence.

Ms Ewe said Ms Oladejo, on July 21, 2020, between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. in the Akobi area, Popo, Ibadan, took the baby from the custody of her parents.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The chief magistrate, Patricia Adetuyibi, admitted the defendant to N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Ms Adetuyibi adjourned the matter until January 12.

If found guilty, he is liable to 14 years’ imprisonment.
