Twitter will delete 1.5 billion accounts: Elon Musk
Twitter CEO Elon Musk has announced that the microblogging site will delete 1.5 billion inactive accounts.
Mr Musk made the announcement on Friday.
“Twitter will soon start freeing the name space of 1.5 billion accounts,” he tweeted.
The Twitter boss also explained that the deletion of accounts would be for profiles that have been inactive over a long period and accounts with no login activity.
“These are obvious account deletions with no tweets & no log in for years,” stated Mr Musk.
The announcement followed recent sweeping changes by the Twitter owner, including the mass layoff of employees.
On November 6, Mr Musk announced an $8 subscription fee for Twitter blue verification tick.
