Qatar 2022: Argentina defeat Netherlands on penalties

Lionel Messi put up a brilliant performance as Argentina advanced into the semi-finals at the World Cup in Qatar, beating the Netherlands via a penalty shootout in a fierce quarter-final on Friday.
Both teams started out well, scheming hard to outplay each at Lusail Stadium ok Friday night.
Monila broke the deadlock for Argentina in the 35th-minute courtesy of a brilliant through pass from Lionel Messi.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner doubled Argentina’s lead by scoring from the spot in the second half.
With Friday’s goal, Messi equalled Gabriel Batistuta, Argentina’s highest World Cup goal-scorer.
The Netherlands, however, brilliantly fought their way back into the game as Wout Weghorst, who came in as a substitute, pulled two equalisers for the Dutch team, extending the game into extra time.
Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez became the hero of the game, saving two penalties to see Argentina win 4-3 via penalty shootout.
