Both teams started out well, scheming hard to outplay each at Lusail Stadium ok Friday night.

Monila broke the deadlock for Argentina in the 35th-minute courtesy of a brilliant through pass from Lionel Messi.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner doubled Argentina’s lead by scoring from the spot in the second half.

With Friday’s goal, Messi equalled Gabriel Batistuta, Argentina’s highest World Cup goal-scorer.

The Netherlands, however, brilliantly fought their way back into the game as Wout Weghorst, who came in as a substitute, pulled two equalisers for the Dutch team, extending the game into extra time.
