There’ll be potable water for Lagosians this Christmas: LWC

The Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) on Tuesday assured residents of the state, particularly Otto community, of potable water supply to celebrate the Christmas period.
The Managing Director, LWC, Muminu Badmus, said this in a statement issued and signed by LWC spokesman, Anifowoshe Rasaq.
Mr Badmus said on completion of the ongoing intervention rehabilitation of 45 million gallons per day (MGD) Iju Waterworks this month, potable water would be supplied to the community and other parts of the state to celebrate this yuletide season.
He added that the Iponri mini waterworks, now in operation and Adiyan waterworks expected to commence operation soon, would also complement water production and supply from the Iju Waterworks.
He stated that the state government was committed to supplying water to every home in the state.
“This is why LWC recently embarked upon a great number of projects to increase water production, distribution and expansion, as the state has placed much priority on the water sector,” he said.
Mr Badmus further explained that the problem of ageing infrastructure, among others, limiting water production and supply in the state was beyond the corporation.
He, however, thanked Babajide Sanwo-Olu led-administration for his pragmatic approach and intervention towards emergency resuscitation of Iju, Adiyan Waterworks and Akute intakes.
