Osun couple docked for affray

A couple in Osun, Monday Fasoro and his wife, Osunfunke, were on Thursday arraigned by the Osun police command for alleged affray.
The husband and wife, both aged 46, appeared before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the defendants committed the affray on December 19, about 04:00 p.m. at Falolu, off Ifewara Road, Ile-Ife.
Mr Abdullahi said that the defendants took part in a public fight within Falolu.
He added that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breakdown of law and order by engaging in public fights.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 83 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to a four-count charge bordering on breach of peace.
Magistrate O.B. Adediwura granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
Ms Adediwura added that the sureties must swear to affidavits of means and reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
The magistrate adjourned the case until January 17 for mention.
