Oyo: Police nab nine suspects over murder of PDP chieftain

The police command in Oyo says nine suspects have been arrested over the murder of Hakeem Mudashiru, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) grassroots mobiliser in Oyo town.
Mr Mudashiru was allegedly macheted to death in his father’s house on Wednesday by suspected rival political thugs.
The police spokesman in the state, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the arrest of the suspects on Thursday in Ibadan.
Mr Osifeso said the suspects included a female.
According to the cop, the State Criminal Investigation Department is handling the case.
Mr Osifeso said preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was attacked by suspected hoodlums Mr Mudashiru had a heated argument with.
“There was an unfortunate case of random violence that led to the death of one Hakeem Mudashiru, 40 years, as reported by his father, one Jimoh Agala, at Durbar Divisional Police Headquarters, Oyo state on Wednesday at about 1:35 p.m.,” the police officer explained.
Mr Osifeso said police operatives had been deployed to the area to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
