Police nab teenager for stealing TV

A 19-year-old man, Ibrahim Yaya, was on Tuesday brought before the Ota Magistrates’ Court, Ogun, for stealing a television and other valuables worth N4 million.
The police charged Mr Yaya with burglary and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 17, at about 7:00 a.m. at No 40, Adeniran Street, Sango-Ota, Ogun.
Mr Adaraloye said the defendant unlawfully entered the complainant’s house, stealing one flat-screen TV, generator’s parts, and other valuables worth N4 million.
The complainant was identified as Bolarinde Jonathan.
He said the vigilance group arrested the defendant and handed him over to the police.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened sections 411(1)(2) and 412 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The magistrate, A.O. Adeyemi, granted the defendant N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and ordered that the sureties reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun government.
