The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday announced the extention of deadline for collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

The commission in a statement by its spokesperson, Festus Okoye, said that the deadline for PVC collection has been extended by by seven days.

“The Commission is determined to ensure that registered voters have ample opportunity to collect their PVCs ahead of the forthcoming election.

“For this reason, the timeframe for the collection of PVCs is extended by eight days,” Mr Okoye said.

The INEC spokesperson added that “Instead of ending on Sunday 22nd January 2023, the collection of PVCs will continue until Sunday 29th January 2023. At the moment, the period of collection is 9.00 am – 3.00 pm daily (including Saturdays and Sundays).”

This comes as Nigerians prepare for the general elections to be held on February 25 and March 11, according to the timetable released by INEC.

The deadline for PVC collection was earlier scheduled for January 22, before now being extended to January 29.
