Grammy award-winning Afrobeat musician Wizkid has announced a joint tour with genre-mate Davido in a surprising twist on Wednesday.

Born Ayodeji Balogun, Wizkid made the shocking revelation on his Instagram page on Wednesday.

Wizkid stated that he would be joining Davido on tour after his scheduled promotional shows for his recently released ‘More Love, Less Ego’ album.

“After my MLLE tour!! Davido and I going on tour! Save your coins! I no one hear pim!!,” the Essence crooner posted on his Instagram story.

Born David Adeleke, Davido had sometime last year, in an interview on Bounce Radio hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, hinted of plans to record an album with Wizkid and also tour with him.

“I tried to do an album with Wiz(Wizkid), tried to do a tour with Wiz. We spoke about it and during the last Afronation(music show), we had a plan for 30BG and Starboy(Wizkid’s record label) to have a general meeting to sort out every possible problem,” Davido said during the interview.

“E dey happen. Even if it is an album, tour and so on,” he concluded.

The statement sent the fans of both music icons into jubilation, with many praising the development as a good plan to further push Afrobeat into becoming one of the biggest genres in the global music scene.

For years, there have been speculations that Wizkid and Davido are not on good terms, which was quashed in 2017 when both singers reciprocated by performing at each other’s concerts.

Also, in January 2022, Wizkid and Davido met at a club in Lagos where they also shared hugs.

Despite efforts by both parties to prove that there is no bad blood, the rivalry between Wizkid’s fanbase, called Wizkid FC, which is also one of the largest in the world and Davido’s 30BG fanbase continues to spread.

Meanwhile, the announcement of the anticipated joint tour has now created a rare opportunity for both fanbases to be on the same page.
