INEC to conduct mock test for BVAS accreditation in Ondo

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it would conduct a “mock voters accreditation” exercise in ONDO ahead of this month’s election.
Olufunmike Segun-Osifeso, the electoral body’s spokeswoman in Ondo, stated this in a statement obtained by Peoples Gazette on Friday in Akure.
Mrs Segun-Osifeso said that the mock voters’ accreditation would be conducted in twelve polling units of the three Senatorial districts of the state.
She added that the BVAS system was to technically evaluate the device in the state ahead of the February 25 and March 11 general elections.
“The exercise was part of preparations for the conduct of the 2023 general elections.
“The exercise will take place in two polling units in two local government areas of three Senatorial Districts of the state,” Mrs Segun-Osifeso added in the statement.
The polling units where the exercise would take place included Akoko North East (Isha/Ugbe at Chief Olisas House and Oja Ugbe); Owo council (Methodist Primary School, Fajuyi Road and Health Center inside Mopa Hall) and Akure South Local Government (Sacred Heart Primary School, Cathedral and St. Stephen Primary School, Ijomu.).
Others are Ondo West Local Government (St Patrick’s primary school, Olorunsola, and Salvation Army Primary School Ojodomu); Ese Odo Local Government (LA School Igbekebo and Salvation Army School, Igbobini) and Okitipupa local government (St Dominic Primary School, Ayeka and Ojomo/Kajola, U.N.A Primary School).
She said the exercise would help test the credibility of the BVAS, adding that it would also help to test the visibilities of both the hard and software of the machine.
