Court remands apprentice in prison over killing of master in Ondo

An Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State has remanded Josiah Godwin in prison custody, for allegedly killing his boss.
Mr Godwin, a 20-year-old local apprentice was accused of killing Saviour Joseph (his boss) and dumping his corpse inside a well in the Imafon community, Akure South Local Government Area of the state.
The accused was arraigned in court by the Ondo police command on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.
Folasade Adeyemi, the prosecutor in charge of the criminal case on Wednesday told the court that Mr Godwin’s offences contravened Sections 269 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.
Ms Adeyemi, however, prayed the court to remand the accused at the Olokuta Correctional Centre pending the issuance of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Counsel to the defendant, Friday Adeoye, did not object to the remand application issued by the prosecutor.
Consequently, Chief Magistrate Idowu Mayowa granted the application of the prosecutor and adjourned the case till March 17, 2023, for legal advice.
Mr Godwin was arrested last week Thursday by detectives after he was accused of killing Mr Joseph, his boss, who specialises in POP fittings including asbestos.
An elder brother of the deceased, Ogar Julius, discovered his death with the aid of the police after his remains were hidden inside a well at a construction site.
