One killed, others injured as containerised truck crushes commercial bus on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A multiple accident on Kara Bridge, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, claimed one life but other victims were luckily rescued by the operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
LASTMA spokesman Taofiq Adebayo disclosed this on Thursday. He said the multiple accident, which occurred around 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, involved a fully loaded containerised truck with five other private vehicles.
A male hawker died instantly during the accident. His corpse and other rescued persons were handed over to medical personnel on ground at the scene of the accident, the LASTMA spokesman said.
According to him, preliminary investigation revealed that the fully loaded truck developed a brake failure. He said the truck, after experiencing break failure, crushed a Hiace 18-seater commercial bus with passengers and four other vehicles.
The Head of LASTMA (Zebra) at Ojodu- Berger, Mabunmi Abisola, who led the rescue team, confirmed that the vehicles involved in the fatal accident were immediately removed from ‘Kara’ bridge to pave the way for free flow of traffic.
Mr Abisola disclosed that the emergency responders at the scene of the accident included the Nigeria Police, Trace Officials and Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).
