Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo has declared Friday as a half-day for civil servants in the state.

The gesture was to allow the government workers to prepare for Saturday’s presidential election.

The governor’s message was conveyed in a circular issued by the State Head of Service, Olaniyi Ogundele, on Wednesday in Akure.

A copy of it, sighted by Peoples Gazette, stated that government offices shall close work by noon on Friday, February 24, and Friday, March 10, 2023.

It, however, added that the holidays are to enable public servants to travel to their various communities to perform their civic duty of voting during the general elections.

Meanwhile, Mr Akeredolu would on Thursday address the people of Ondo in a statewide broadcast.

The governor, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Richard Olatunde, said the state broadcast, which would be aired by the state-owned television and radio stations, is slated for 7 am.
