Gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in Ogun State, Kehinde Sogunle, has abandoned his aspiration to support Ladi Adebutu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of tomorrow’s governorship and states’ parliamentary election.

The alliance may prove consequential to All Progressives Congress (APC) Dapo Abiodun’s second term bid following a strong showing of the Labour Party in the state in last month’s presidential election.

The alliance was announced by the Labour Party’s state caretaker committee in a statement signed by its secretary, Tokunbo Peters, who said the party’s support for Mr Adebutu was based on careful consideration and policy alignment.

“But after careful consideration of all its options, the Labour Party decided to align with the PDP. The choice of the PDP was informed by the fact that the manifesto, mission and ideology of the PDP were similar to that of the Labour Party,” the statement said.

Mr Peters added that both parties share the same vision of an all-inclusive government aimed at “rescuing, resetting and renewing Ogun state.”

“The gubernatorial candidate of the PDP Hon Ladi Adebutu shares the same vision of running a populist, prudent and all-inclusive government just like Kehinde Sogunle, the Labour Party candidate.

“The Labour Party is committed to the agenda of rescuing, resetting and renewing Ogun State and has a firm belief that its collaboration with PDP will achieve the set goals of bequeathing purposeful government to the traumatised citizens of the state,” he added.
