Polls: APC thugs take to Lagos streets to threaten voters
A group of thugs backing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has threatened residents of Agbo-Ola street, Orile, Oshodi, Lagos not to vote at all if they will not cast their ballots for APC candidates in Saturday’s governorship and state’s House of Assembly elections.
A video seen by Peoples Gazette showed about 20 young men strolling the street of Agbo-Ola while thundering “APC… congress” on Saturday morning.
“If you no fit vote APC, just stay for your house, make you sleep, make you chop eba,” one of the almost 20 thugs adorning a hoodie said in pidgin, as he walked down the untarred street.
Threats were made by the thugs in an effort to discourage voters from casting their ballots in large numbers.
Similar threats have been made in Sangotedo and Okiki Junction, off Ago Palace way in Lagos state, all to frighten voters into not voting for APC rivals.
Security operatives were not in sight and have remained silent on the incident.
When contacted on WhatsApp, Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos state police command, replied with an automated message that said “I am sorry I cannot reply right away.”
Mr Hundeyin says he “will reply as soon as I see your message” in the automated response.
