Kano man strangles 22-year-old pregnant girlfriend

The police command in Kano has arrested a man, Philibus Ibrahim, for strangling his 22-year-old pregnant girlfriend, Theresa Yakubu.
The police revealed that Mr Ibrahim committed the crime in Tudun Wada local council and was arrested alongside an alleged accomplice Gabriel Bila, both of Unguwar Korau Tudun-Wada LGA.
Police commissioner Mamman Dauda confirmed the arrest to journalists on Tuesday in Kano.
Mr Dauda said the command, at about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, received information that Ms Yakubu lay on the roadside, unconscious on Kano-Jos Road in Anadaria village.
“On receiving the information, a team of policemen was rushed to the scene, and the victim was taken to Tiga General Hospital, where she was confirmed dead by a doctor,” stated the police chief. “Investigation, however, revealed that the victim left Nassarawan Kuki to Yantomo village in Garin Babba LGA of Kano on March 27, at about 6:00 p.m.”
He added, “In the course of the investigation, the principal suspect was arrested and confessed to committing the offence by using the victim’s veil to strangulate her.”
The police commissioner said the investigation was ongoing.
