Eid-El-Fitri: 950 FRSC operatives to patrol Kwara roads

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kwara command says it has deployed 950 officers, including 322 special marshals, to monitor all roads across the state during the Eid-el-Fitri celebrations.
The number includes 27 patrol vehicles, two power bikes and 70 towing trucks.
This is contained in a statement in Ilorin on Wednesday by the FRSC spokeswoman Basambo Olayinka-Busari.
According to the statement, Kwara sector commander, Fredrick Ogidan, has deployed personnel for traffic control at strategic locations within the Ilorin metropolis and major cities across the state during the special patrol scheduled from Thursday to April 25.
The commander urged motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations such as speeding, overloading, obstruction, use of phones while driving, passenger manifest violation, operation of mechanical deficiency and rickety vehicles, among others.
The heavy tow truck, ambulances and rescue marshals, the statement said, would be stationed along major highways within the state to achieve free flow of traffic and reduction in road traffic crashes during the festivity.
Mr Ogidan said the operation targeted achieving a five per cent reduction in road traffic death and injuries, the corps’ 2023 corporate strategic goal.
He advised motorists to always exercise caution and consider safety before other activities.
