Coach Chris Danjuma unveils squad for U-20 Women’s WAFU B tournament

Nigeria will begin their campaign at the tournament against Niger Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, May 21.

Head coach of Nigeria’s Falconets Chris Danjuma has announced a 20-woman squad ahead of the 2023 WAFU B U20 Women Tournament.

Nigeria is drawn in Group B with Niger Republic, Burkina Faso and Togo, which will take place in Kumasi, Ghana from May – 4 June.

Topping the list are forwards Flourish Sebastine and Opeyemi Ajakaye who have both recently featured for Nigeria at FIFA U-20 World Cup where the country reached the quarterfinals and the FIFA U-17 World Cup in which Nigeria finished third.

Also on the list for the eight-nation tourney are three goalkeepers Inyene Etim, Shukura Bakare, Chinyere Mgbechi, six defenders including Jumoke Alani, Oluchi Ohaegbulem, Chidinma Ogbuchi, five midfielders consisting Taiwo Afolabi, Esther Onyenezide.

Nigeria will begin their campaign at the tournament against Niger Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, May 21, before they tango Togo three days later also at the same stadium.

They will round up the group stage with a clash with Burkina Faso at Paa Joe Stadium on Sunday, 28 May.

Forwards: Shukurat Oladipo, Goodness Osigwe, Flourish Sebastine, Omowunmi Bello, Opeyemi Ajakaye, Judith Okah
