Jos DisCo begs host communities to protect facilities

Jos Electricity Distribution Plc. (JED) has appealed to Plateau residents to safeguard electricity facilities against criminals in their communities.
The company’s managing director, Abdu Mohammed, appealed when members of Kwang and Mangu Halle communities of Jos North and Mangu Local Government Areas, respectively, visited him.
Mr Mohammed decried the vandalism of JED’s facilities, particularly transformers and called on residents to support the company in its drive to provide a steady power supply.
“Help us to secure our facilities against vandals.
“About 18 communities are currently having various challenges because of vandalism; it is creating security, social and economic convulsions.
“It is a very serious problem; it is deepening into our resources and a thorn in our flesh, and every day, there are cases of vandalism of our network,’’ he lamented.
Mr Mohammed expressed the preparedness of the company to support local security outfits in communities to ensure the safety of its facilities.
In their separate remarks, Goeuam Anthony and Yusuf Dashang, who spoke on behalf of the two communities, thanked Mr Mohammed for his purposeful leadership.
They noted that the power supply in Plateau had improved since he assumed office.
They pledged their support to take the company to greater heights.
