FCT UBEB boss promises transparency, accountability

The newly appointed chairman of the FCT Universal Basic Education Board (FCT UBEB), Abdullahi Mohammed, has vowed to ensure transparency in all its activities.
He made the vow during his maiden meeting with the board’s management on Friday.
A statement by the board spokesperson, Patience Ossai, quoted Mr Mohamed as saying that it would be difficult to achieve its objectives without transparency and accountability.
Mr Mohammed said he would effectively engage all the stakeholders, including CSOs and the media, in his quest to ensure that basic education thrived in the FCT.
Also, he promised to develop a performance benchmark anchored on global best practices and always put the welfare of the workers on the front burner.
Mr Mohammed solicited the cooperation of management and board staff members to guide it to deliver on its mandates effectively.
He commended his predecessor, Alhassan Sule, now board secretary, for keeping the system running pending the coming of the new board.
Mr Sule assured the executive chairman of the maximum support of the board’s staffers and management to ensure that every child in FCT gets access to basic education.
