MFR national honour delights Napoli striker Victor Osimhen

Napoli and Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen says he feels “delighted” and “proud” after then-President Muhammadu Buhari conferred him with the national honour of Member of the Federal Republic (MFR).
The national award is Nigeria’s fourth highest level of orders and decorations.
“Today, I feel so blessed and grateful as I announce that I have been awarded the prestigious Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) award by the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Osimhen tweeted.
He added, “Today also marked my 100th game for Napoli, and I was fortunate to score two goals for my club,” noting that “this MFR recognition also means a lot to me, as it symbolises the appreciation and support of the great Nigerian people for the dedication and hard work they have always put into their career to make Nigeria proud.”
The 24-year-old has been an integral Gli Azzurri squad member this season. So far, he has scored 25 goals in the campaign to help Napoli win the Italian Serie A title for the first time in 33 years and the third time in the club’s 96 years of existence.
With only one round of matches remaining in the Serie A, Osimhen is on course to become the first African to win the ‘Capocannoniere’, the award given to a season’s highest goalscorer.
He is trailed by Argentina World Cup winner and Inter forward Lautaro Martinez, who has 21 goals.
