Kaduna govt. sets up committee to review agencies’ performance

Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State has set up a committee to review the performance of all government parastatals in the state.
This is contained in a statement by Muhammad Shehu, chief press secretary to the governor, on Monday in Kaduna.
He said that the decision was to ensure that government agencies operate at the highest level of efficiency and effectiveness.
Mr Shehu said the committee will be chaired by the deputy governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe.
“It will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive analysis and appraisal of all state government parastatals to assess their performance, identify areas of improvement, and make recommendations where necessary.
“The committee has the mandate to assess the complete records of the Heads of the Parastatals in terms of their qualifications and experience.
“Conduct comprehensive assessment of the performance of the parastatals based on their functions and make recommendations on each
“The committee will also make recommendations that will enhance the proper functions of the parastatals,” he added.
Mr Shehu said that the committee has three weeks to submit its report.
According to him, the findings will help to identify areas where government agencies can improve their service delivery and meet the needs of the citizens.
Members of the committee are Sani Liman, the chief of staff to the governor, Habiba Shekarau, head of service, and Muhammad Hafiz Bayero, senior advisor-counsellor.
Also on the committee are Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar, Dr Salisu Abubakar of ABU Zaria, and Mary Olalerin, office of the secretary to the state government.
Other include Muhammad Bashir Umar, permanent secretary, general services and Bashir Muhammad, permanent secretary, planning and budget commission, while Iliya Duniya, director cabinet, will serve as secretary.
