REC hails IPAC, other stakeholders for successful 2023 elections in Oyo

Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Oyo state, Dr Adeniran Tella, has attributed the success of the 2023 general elections in the state to the support received from Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and other stakeholders.
Mr Tella stated this on Wednesday during the commendation ceremony and award/certificate presentation, organised by the state chapter of IPAC for some staff members of INEC.
He commended IPAC members for their support, uprightness and efforts at ensuring that the commission conducted credible, transparent and fair elections in the state.
“The commission, though an umpire, cannot alone conduct credible, free, fair and inclusive polls in the state without the full support of critical stakeholders such as IPAC.
“The commission, therefore, commend you all for your support in helping to achieve successful polls and also for organising this award and presentation of certificates to INEC staff,” he said.
Mr Tella urged IPAC not to relent in its support to the commission in all its activities.
In his remarks, the IPAC Chairman in the state, Apostle Dare Ojo, said that the event was organised to appreciate the contributions of the commission’s staff members, under Mr Tella’s leadership, to the success of the 2023 general elections in the state.
Mr Ojo noted that the state had never had a better election than the last general election.
He appreciated other stakeholders, such as political parties, media organisations, security agencies and other key players, for making the elections a huge success.
The IPAC chairman congratulated Gov. Seyi Makinde, who won the governorship election, praying that God would grant him the wisdom to navigate through his second tenure.
He also urged members of the 10th House of Assembly to form a synergy with the executive arm in order to focus on policies that would bring improvement to the state.
Highlights of the ceremony included presentation of certificates of excellence to the REC as well as some INEC management staffers, electoral officers and junior officers for their roles in the conduct of the general elections.
