President Bola Tinubu has been urged to redouble efforts in ensuring that the Federal University of Agriculture, Bassambri, Bayelsa State (FUABBS) attains its maximum success.

The paramount ruler of the Amanayabo of Opu-Nembe kingdom, King Biobelemoye Josiah, of the university host community, said this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

The statement was signed by Edwin Asafibofori-Nateni, acting chairman, Opu-Nembe Council of Chiefs.

According to him, the entire citizenry of the kingdom thanked Mr Tinubu for promising to build on his predecessor’s achievements of the newly approved university.

“We are, therefore, thanking the President in advance, believing he will sustain and improve on the good works of his predecessor ex-President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the University as well as appointing an indigenous Professor of Agriculture as the pioneer Vice Chancellor,” he said.

He also commended the roles played by former education minister, Adamu Adamu, former petroleum minister of state, Timiprye Silva and federal lawmakers, to ensure the Opu Nembe kingdom gets a federal presence.

He commended Gov. Douye Diri of Bayelsa for being a governor that had shown love to the Nembe people in general and Opu-Nembe in particular.

“This in particularly during our travails and good times, with expectations that, as the chief host and at whose time the university is established, he would not hesitate to provide and release the take-off facility, the Government Girls Secondary School (G.G.S.S.).

“Also to make necessary renovations to further stamp his love for the Opu-Nembe Kingdom,” he said.

He added that the Opu-Nembe kingdom would be willing to do all that is necessary in her domain in ensuring that this monumental project attains its maximum height.

He also pledged additional hectares of land that would be included in the re-surveyed document to reflect the FUAB status.
