LP Reps member Amobi Ogah asks Obidients, Peter Obi to support Tinubu
While Peter Obi of Labour Party is challenging the victory of President Bola Tinubu before the presidential election petition court (PEPC), a Labour Party lawmaker, Amobi Ogah, has urged his party members and its presidential candidate Mr Obi to support Mr Tinubu’s administration.
“We must put Nigeria first. Nigeria is most important than anybody,” Mr Ogah said. “Once you are in this politics, don’t lose hope. Don’t think that if you don’t win today, you will not win again. And once somebody has won an election, to be a good sportsman, you must give the person support.”
Mr Ogah, who represents Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency of Abia in the 10th assembly, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen on Monday. A video of his interview by Channels TV emerged on social media on Tuesday.
Speaking further, Mr Ogah said “and that is why I always say, whoever that is on that seat, give the person that support until either court says otherwise or God says otherwise.”
“For me, like I said earlier last week, that trended all over the world when I told the people, the election has come and gone. Now it is about governance. And whoever God has given that mandate to represent the people, you must respect that institution.”
Last week, Mr Ogah praised Mr Tinubu, describing the president as intelligent and prepared to lead the country, eliciting condemnation from his party supporters.
The LP lawmaker’s open support for Mr Tinubu comes as the LP is in court challenging the result of the February 25th presidential election that brought Mr Tinubu to office.
Mr Obi had repeatedly vowed to reclaim his mandate from Mr Tinubu through the court.
