Okada rider arrested for sodomising teenager in Ondo

Peter Nweke, a commercial motorcyclist, has been apprehended for allegedly sodomising a 15-year-old boy in Ondo State.
Mr Nweke, 35, was nabbed by members of the Abusoro community in the Ijoka Area of Akure, the Ondo state capital, and was immediately handed over to operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Daniel Aidamenbor, the spokesperson for the NSCDC in Ondo state, confirmed the suspect’s arrest in a statement on Thursday in Akure.
Mr Aidamenbor said the suspect was arrested after a collective effort of the community, having observed his strange movement around the victim’s residence daily.
He revealed that the suspect always lured his victim from school to his house, where he would have carnal knowledge of the teenager and later return him to his parent’s house daily before he was caught.
“Nweke Peter would always lure his victim from school to his house and return the victim to the victim’s house of proximity at about 1800 hours daily. The neighbours noticed this trend and reported it to the landlords.
“On Thursday, 6th July 2023, he (Nweke) was caught in the act of molesting the child but ran away. On Tuesday, 11th July 2023, luck ran out on the suspect, and he was apprehended by the victim’s uncle and handed over to the command,” the NSCDC spokesperson said.
He said the suspect contravened sections 31(1), (2) of the Ondo States Child’s Right Law 2007 and section 3(1) (a) (b) (c) of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law 2021.
Mr Aidamenbor added that the suspect would be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation.
