Gov. Alia dissolves Benue varsity governing council

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue on Monday dissolved the governing council of Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi, with immediate effect.
A statement by his chief press secretary, Tersoo Kula, said a seven-man visitation panel had been constituted to audit the university’s activities from 2016 when the last panel visited.
“The panel is to comprehensively investigate activities at the institution and report back accordingly for necessary action(s). Other terms of reference for the panel are contained in the letter conveying the decision of the visitor,” the statement partly read.
The panel members included Gabriel Moti as chairman, and Simon Orkuma as secretary, while Kwaghkondo Agber, Peter Igyeigye, Christie Ekoja, Sam Yuhwa, and Okpe Okpe are members.
Sabastine Hon chaired the dissolved council.
