I declined Simi’s request for collaboration because she won’t have sex with me: Brymo

He said although he regrets making the request, at that point, he only sought the experience of a collaboration with a female artiste he was sleeping with.

Nigerian singer and songwriter Olawale Ashimi, popularly known as Brymo, on Friday confessed that he declined his colleague Simi’s request for collaboration in the past because she refused to sleep with him.

Brymo revealed this while replying to a Twitter user, Maskill, who suggested that Simi’s husband, Adekunle Gold, should have featured the ‘Ara’ crooner in his latest album.

In his tweet, Brymo recounted that Adekunle Gold sought collaboration with him but he declined and did the same in the case of Simi, who refused to “get intimate” with him.

He said, “Though AG reached out later, I like to think that he didn’t check in again, by will or fate because I turned down the same request many years before…I also did same with Simi… said I wanted to get intimate to create intensity.”

Tweeting further, the music star said although he regrets making the request, at that time, he only wanted the experience of a collaboration with a female artiste he was sleeping with.

“There’s a part of me that wants to feel remorse for my requirement for a collaboration with the talented Simi.. yet I am reminded that I was indeed, and honestly seeking to experience the outcome of making music with a female act I was bedding,” he said.

He further explained, “Of course, I had to let go of the aspiration; I didn’t intend at any point in time to demand sex for collaboration. No, I wanted an experience that involved sex with a female artiste I collaborated with.”

However, the ‘Ara’ crooner, who acknowledged the absurdity in his fantasy, added that “Up until date, I still haven’t slept with any female artiste.”

According to the “Old Cat”, he feels a little remorse for his demand in the past, especially after he learnt of Simi and Adekunle Gold’s relationship and how far the couple has gone in the music industry.

“It was after I saw Simi and Gold together that I realised that first of all, I deprived them of features, and finally, they made it on their own, and I realised they are together,” he added.

He further revealed that he proposed the same to Ghanaian female artiste, Efya.

“I proposed the same to Efya, too then,” he said.
