Plateau revenue service will automate tax processes to block leakages: Official
Jim Pam, chairman of Plateau Internal Revenue Service (PIRS), says that as part of efforts to boost revenue generation and block leakages, the service will automate all its revenue collection processes.
Mr Pam stated this on Friday in Jos when the Plateau House of Assembly screened and confirmed him as PIRS chairman.
The new chairman assured Plateau people that he would do his best to improve the state’s revenue generation for the good of all.
He said the service operations would align with Plateau State Revenue Law 2002.
During the screening, the lawmakers asked the appointee a series of questions to assess his capability in handling the office of the Chief Revenue Officer of the state.
In a voice vote, the speaker, Moses Sule, asked members whether the nominee should be confirmed, and the members unanimously approved the appointment of Mr Pam as the substantive chairman of PIRS.
Mr Pam, a chartered accountant specialising in taxes, hails from the Foron District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state.
Before his appointment, he was a Federal Inland Revenue Service FIRS staff.
He, therefore, promised to replicate what the FIRS was doing at the federal level in the state.
