Rep. Jeremiah Umaru (APC-Akwanga/Wamba/Nassarawa Eggon) has called on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to repair dilapidated roads in his constituency.

He said this would boost the transportation system and improve the standard of living of the people of the area and others plying the roads.

Mr Umaru, who is the vice chairman of the House committee on public account, made the call on Saturday in Akwanga after he inspected the ongoing reconstruction of Akwanga/Andaha road collapsed bridge.

The lawmaker said that fixing the dilapidated roads would also boost the socio-economic activities of the people.

“Because of the collapse of this bridge in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, linking Kaduna, Plateau and North Eastern parts of the country, Motorists and other road users have been passing through Akwanga GRA Low-cost, JK Palms along Wamba road, among others.

“The Akwanga GRA Low-cost road, JK Palms and Akwanga/Wamba roads have been damaged which have affected the lives of our people and those plying the road negatively.

“I call on FERMA to come and repair as well as fix the roads in order to improve the welfare of my people and other Nigerians,” he said.

Mr Umaru said that he had written to FERMA while appealing to the agency to urgently fix the road.

“By God’s grace, very soon they will come and fix the roads as it is a matter of urgency, matter of life and death.

“The rehabilitation of the roads will make the people travel freely without hitches,” he said.

Besides, Mr Umaru called on the people of Nasarawa North and other Nigerians to live and co-exist peacefully with each other for development to continue to thrive.

“I call on the people of Nasarawa North to continue to remain united, live together in harmony because without peace, you cannot achieve anything.

“Nasarawa North is a peaceful place but we need more peace for more progress and development,” he added.
