Omasi residents want urgent boundary demarcation with Enugu communities

Omasi community in Ayamelum LGA of Anambra has called on the federal government to delineate the boundary with Igga and Adani communities of Enugu.
Alfred Chukwu, president general of Omasi community made the call while addressing journalists on Sunday in Awka.
Mr Chukwu said the boundary delineation would reduce incessant skirmishes between the three communities over ownership of more than 10km Agricultural Development Authority (ADA Rice Estate).
He said the estate established during the defunct eastern regional government by Michael Okpara was sustained by the old Anambra under former Governor Jim Nwobodo.
”Following the creation of now Anambra in 1991, Omasi community which owns 6,200km of the land remained in the state while Igga and Adani are in Uzouwani area of Enugu state,” he said.
The community leader noted that due to state creation, locals from the two states became disagreeable.
“Omasi community under my watch as president-general has established more than 2,000 farmers’ cooperative societies for rice, vegetables, tomatoes, cassava and pepper on a sustainable agribusiness ventures,” stated Mr Chukwu. “But our predicament as we speak borders on poor access roads and unprovoked attacks in addition to others issues.”
Mr Chukwu, who stressed the urgent need for access road to the rice estate said, with road to the estate, agricultural activities would be boosted.
