Lagos Island, Ikorodu, Apapa likely to suffer flooding: NEMA

NEMA says 56 communities across 19 states will likely witness heavy rainfall that can lead to flooding within the month.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says 56 communities across 19 states will likely witness heavy rainfall that can lead to flooding within the month.

Ibrahim Farinloye, NEMA’s territorial coordinator in Lagos, said this in a statement on Monday.

The states are Delta (Aboh), Ekiti (Ado Ekiti), Ondo (Akure, Idanre, Ifon, Iju Itaogbolu, Ogbese, Owo, Owena, and Ondo), Lagos (Apapa, Badagry, Eti Osa, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Ikoyi, Lagos Island, Ojo, and Surulere), Anambra (Atani) and Ogun (Ifo, Ota, Sagamu), Nasarawa (Lafia and Wamba) and Cross River (Ikom and Ogoja). 

Others are Bauchi (Jamaare, Misau, Azare, Itas, Kafin Madaki, Kari, Kirfi, Tafawa Balewa, and Katagum), Jigawa (Hadejia and Miga), Osun (Ilesa and Osogbo), Kwara (Kosubosu), Zamfara (Anka, Bungudu and Gusau), Sokoto (Goronyo), Adamawa (Numan and Shelleng), Taraba (Serti), Benue (Ito, Katsina-Alan, and Vandeikya), Imo (Oguta and Orlu) and Abia (Ugba).
