Avoid Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, FRSC advises motorists

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised drivers plying the Lagos-Ibadan road to seek alternative routes following an accident that has blocked movement on that corridor.
The FRSC offered the advice after its officials visited the scene of the accident that involved an articulated vehicle at the Otedola Bridge area of Lagos.
Its Lagos Sector Commander, Olusegun Ogungbemide, suggested alternative routes like Lateef Jakande Road and Marwa Garden under the Otedola bridge area.
“They could also use the Mobolaji Johnson Avenue and CMD Road to Otedola Housing Estate, to continue their journey,” he added.
He said, however, that the corridor would be opened for use shortly, urging road users to be careful and observant.
“The fire has been put off and LASEMA is currently clearing the obstructions,” he said.
The FRSC official commended men of the Fire Service as well as FRSC, Nigeria Police, LASTMA, NEMA and other agencies’ personnel that were also at the scene of the inferno.
Ibrahim Farinloye, Acting Coordinator, NEMA, South West Zonal Office, who spoke on the incident, blamed the accident on a speeding vehicle.
“A vehicle was speeding which led to a crash that sparked up fire that involved seven vehicles,” he said.
