Police arrest four suspected cybercriminals in Adamawa

According to him, the investigation reveals that the suspects have been committing the offence since December 2022.

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested four suspects for allegedly using computer network devices and other advanced techniques in defrauding people in the state.

The command’s public relations officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement in Yola on Thursday.

He stated that $8,300, one iPhone, and three Android phones, among other exhibits, were recovered from the suspects.

“Operatives of the command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have arrested cybercrime suspects that used computer network devices in defrauding members of the public.

“The suspects have been hacking into people’s accounts to debit their accounts using advanced techniques and skills.” he said.

According to him, the investigation reveals that the suspects have been committing the offence since December 2022.

Mr Nguroje said the suspects, Jamilu Abubakar, 21; Asab Vitalis, 18; Honest Zubairu, 16; and Paul Ladan Vanasha, 17, were all Shagari Phase 2, Yola South residents.

“Meanwhile, as part of efforts at tackling criminal activities and other related offences, the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, had directed for the suspects to be arraigned in court upon completion of the investigation.

“And calls on those falling Victims to such Offences to be watchful and report any Suspicious persons to the nearest police Station,” he stated
