An Ilorin-based legal practitioner, Ayinde Yusuf, on Sunday advised governments at all levels to focus on youths to revive the economy.

Mr Yusuf said that youths deserve special attention to save the economy from collapse.

He noted that when youths are jobless, the rate of dependence in the country will be high, thereby having a negative effect on the economy.

“The government should make provision for the youths by employing them. They are the larger population in the society.

“Provide jobs for the youths, enrol them freely for innovative/technical skills to better their lives.

“We cannot pretend everything is well when majority of our youths are jobless. Certainly, the dependence rate will be very high.

“Governments must wake up and make the youths their priority. Give them a life they deserve,” Mr Yusuf said.

The lawyer, however, advised youths to add value to themselves and not wait for government to do everything.
