Singer and songwriter Ahmed Ololade, better known as Asake, achieved a remarkable feat at the 16th Headies Awards, securing two prestigious awards: the Next Rated award and Album of the Year.

The Headies is a celebration of Nigerian music and the people who create it, showcasing the diversity and vibrancy of the country’s music industry.

The 16th edition was held on September 3, in Atlanta, and was skillfully hosted by Nollywood actress Osas Ighodaro and American TV presenter, Terrence J.

Asake, only in his debut appearance at the prestigious awards, received eight nominations to assert himself as the artist that featured in the highest number of categories this year.

In the 15th edition of the Headies Awards, the ‘Next Rated’ award was clinched by Daniel Benson, also recognised as BNXN, while the ‘Album of the Year’ award was claimed by Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid.

Out of the eight nominations, Asake clinched two awards, outshining notable contenders such as Young Jonn, Seyi Vibez, Victony, and Spyro in the ‘Next Rated’ category, as well as surpassing the likes of Burna Boy, Rema, Omah Lay, Victony, and Davido in the fiercely competitive ‘Album of the Year’ category.
