Kwara govt. tasks pet owners on regular vaccination

The Kwara government has advised pet owners to take advantage of the ongoing free vaccination exercise to vaccinate their pets.
This is contained in a statement signed by the spokesperson for the ministry of agriculture and rural development, Yusuf Adebisi, and made available to newsmen in Ilorin on Monday.
Mr Adebisi explained that the exercise became imperative in view of the recent cases of dog bites in some communities in the state and some of the neighbouring communities.
He described rabies disease in humans as deadly and highly fatal in nature, resulting from infected dogs and cat bites.
He urged the general public, especially dog breeders and owners, to ensure regular vaccination of their pets at least once a year to curtail incidents of the deadly disease as a result of bites.
“All owners of dogs and cats that have not been vaccinated in the last one year or already due for vaccination are advised to bring their pets for vaccination at the State Veterinary Clinic, Opposite Kwara-Agro Mall, Ilorin,” Adebisi said.
He advised pet owners to vaccinate their pets at other designated places like the Veterinary Hospital in Adewole and ministry of agriculture headquarters.
