Human rights lawyer Festus Ogun has written to the attorney general of Lagos asking for an inquiry into the demise of Afrobeats singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka MohBad.

“Clearly, there are reasons to believe that the cause of MohBad’s death was unnatural and suspicious. In line with sections 14 and 15 of the Coroner’s Systems Law of Lagos state, we hereby request for a coroner’s inquest to investigate and determine the cause and circumstances of MohBad’s death,” said the lawyer in a letter dated September 18 to the Lagos attorney.

He added, “Importantly, we humbly request that you exercise the power under section 17 of the Coroner’s System Law to order exhumation of his body for the chief medical examiner to anatomically determine the cause of his death.”

MohBad died on Tuesday amid controversial circumstances, including his swift burial the following day.

Following the news of MohBad’s death, several allegations were made that the artiste did not die of natural causes, with disturbing videos surfacing on social media showing the musician in distress, where he appeared to be lamenting the pain he had endured in the hands of unnamed individuals.
