Motorcyclist remanded for phones, ATM card theft in Abuja

The Grade I Area Court in Lugbe, Abuja, on Friday, ordered the remand of a 35-year-old man who allegedly stole two cell phones from his victim.
Lawal Saidu, who resides in Tipper Garage, Lugbe, Abuja, is charged with joint acts and theft.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Stanley Nwaforaku, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on September 13 and was reported at the Lugbe Police Station by Isaac Gargar and Joy Bala.
Mr Nwaforaku said the defendant stole two cell phones worth N125,000, cash of N19,000, and a First Bank ATM card from the complainants.
He said the offences contravened sections 79 and 287 of the Penal Code.
The judge, Aliyu Kagarko, granted the defendant N1 million bail with a surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until October 13 for a hearing.
