Impeachment: My administration not distracted, says Akeredolu

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo has declared that his administration is not “distracted” by political bickering, noting that what people perceive as a distraction from the outside is part of the governance process in the state.
Mr Akeredolu said instead his government was more committed to good governance, which would be aligned with Godly principles.
The governor, represented by his Special Adviser on Union Matters and Special Duties, Dare Aragbaiye, stated this at a prayer session held on Monday in Akure.
“Our administration is not distracted. What we perceive as distractions from the outside are part of the governance process. The governor is not distracted. It is part of administering the state,” he said.
Mr Akeredolu’s declaration is coming amid political bickering and a plot by the members of the House of Assembly to impeach his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, over allegations of gross misconduct.
Although the governor was fingered in the impeachment move, the state Assembly has asked the chief judge, Olusegun Odunsola, to set up a seven-man panel to investigate Mr Aiyedatiwa over the allegations.
During the State Covenant Renewal Day 2023 prayer session held at St. David’s Anglican Church, Ijomu Akure, the governor emphasised that his administration will not stray from the divine paths.
He noted that he was back, insisting that his administration would continuously seek divine guidance for the peace, progress, and development of the state.
“Our governor is back. I want to assure you on his behalf that Ondo State will continue to be peaceful. Any malicious actions intended to disrupt the peace of Ondo State will be dealt with,” he stated.
Peoples Gazette reports that the prayer programme was also part of activities to commemorate Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day.
