Tunji Afolayan, a renowned art director, has issued a stern ultimatum through his legal representatives, Osifowora & Co., to Kunle Afolayan, the managing director of KAP Productions Limited.

Tunji accuses Kunle of breaching their contractual terms regarding the movie ‘Ijogbon.’

Tunji alleges in a letter signed by Olatubosun Osifowora, the firm’s lead counsel, that Kunle intentionally sought to diminish his contributions to ‘Ijogbon.’ The letter, directed to the managing director, KAP Productions, reveals that Tunji was originally contracted by Segun Akintunde, a Line Producer at KAP Productions Limited, to serve as the art director for the film.

The contract, which was signed on January 11, clearly outlined his responsibilities and compensation. Notably, the letter emphasises that despite the presence of Kunle Afolayan during the contract signing, Tunji never received a copy of the executed documents, which were held by KAP Production’s management. “Our client stated that the executed copies of the contractual documents were kept by the management of KAP Productions Limited and his copy was never given to him till date after signing.”

The letter explains that following the project’s conclusion and its debut on Netflix, Tunji was taken aback to find that his name and position as art director had been excluded. “There was an omission of his name and title as Art Director for the movie,” the letter reads.

In a surprising turn, Kunle received credit as the art director, while Tunji was erroneously identified as a ‘set designer.’ The letter reads,“the management of KAP Productions Limited deliberately and consciously portrayed our client as “SET DESIGNER” instead of his role as the Art Director, which he was originally contracted and work as on the set of the movie”

The letter unequivocally deems this omission a breach of the contract with KAP Productions, suggesting that it was a deliberate effort to undermine Tunji’s creative work and significance in the ‘Ijogbon’ movie. “This is further viewed and taken as a deliberate attempt to undermine our client’s creative work and relevance for the movie.”

In light of these circumstances, Tunji demands that his name and role, as originally contracted, be rightfully restored and credited in the ‘Ijogbon’ movie as the art director.

Osifowora, on Tunji’s behalf, insists that this rectification be made within seven days of receiving the correspondence, warning of further action should the demand not be met.
