The police command in Enugu says it arrested seven notorious criminal suspects who have been operating for years within the Holy Ghost axis of the Enugu metropolis.

In a raid, the command said its operatives recovered nine female handbags, two wallets, two wheel spanners, one iron saw, one Dell laptop, one Zenith Bank ATM card bearing Joy Akiji, one NIN registration slip and other items following the arrest.

This is contained in a statement by the command’s spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, on Wednesday.

The command stated that the arrest followed a raid conducted in the Holy Ghost axis of the Enugu metropolis through the directive of police commissioner Kanayo Uzuegbu.

The police said the raid and arrest were carried out on the evening of October 27.

“Police operatives raided Holy Ghost railway axis, Christ Chemist, Old Park and environs, arresting seven male suspects notorious for attacking and dispossessing innocent and unsuspecting citizens of their belongings,” said the command.

It listed the nabbed suspects as Okonkwo Sunday, 35 (aka Oga Sunny); Nwankwoala Tochukwu, 25 (aka TC Boy); Ogbu Mmaduabuchi, 18; Miracle Chukwu, 20; Nwali Chinedu, 23; Ananchonam Chinecherem, 18, (aka Razor) and Junior Nwamini, 20, (aka Small), all of no known addresses.

The police statement added, “The suspects all confessed to the crime and have been arraigned in court and remanded in the Correctional Custodial Centre.”
