Falcons get new coach

The Nigerian Football Federation has announced Randy Waldrum as the new head coach of the senior women national team, Super Falcons.
The Nigeria football governing body on Tuesday announced the appointment of Mr. Waldrum, an American, on its website.
Mr. Waldrum, 64, started his career at Austin College in 1982. He served as head coach of the Trinidad and Tobago national team between 2014 and 2016.

“He will work with former Super Falcons’ goalkeeper and captain Ann Chiejine, who is the first Assistant Coach, while Wemimo Mathew Olanrewaju will serve as second Assistant Coach and Auwar Bashir Makwalla will be goalkeepers’ trainer”, the statement read.
Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick, president of the Nigeria Football Federation, said: “We envision a new Super Falcons squad competing favourably for laurels at the global level, and I believe the new technical crew led by Mr. Waldrum can take us to that level.”
The Nigerian Super Falcons have dominated women football in Africa, winning nine out of the 11 Women African Cup of Nations hosted so far.
