OAU student hospitalised after completing 58-hour hand wash-a-thon

A student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife Osun state, Subair Enitan, has landed in the hospital after ending a hand wash-a-thon to set a new Guinness World Record.
Her record-breaking attempt was to surpass the longest hand wash-a-thon by an individual after applying for the Guinness World Record for the task last June.
Miss Enitan kicked off her quest on Friday afternoon at the Student Union Building Motor park on the university campus as thousands of students rallied around her while student artistes and university officials also paid a solidarity visit to cheer her to victory.
A post on the official X handle for the marathon revealed that the 200-level student ended the hand wash-a-thon at midnight on Monday, after 58 hours, which surpassed her initial plan of 50 hours.
She was thereafter taken in the school ambulance to the institution’s clinic for a medical check.
According to a video circulating on social media, her hands had turned white and wrinkled as a result of the hand wash-a-thon, as she could be seen lying down on a bed, suggesting she was in a medical ward.
Before being taken to the clinic, Ms Enitan expressed fulfilment at completing the task in front of her mother, Omogbolabo Afolake, who was at the venue for over two days.
“I am very fulfilled to have completed the task right in front of my mum, friends and colleagues who thronged this venue to show love and support my ambition,” she said.
As of this writing, the Guinness World Record is yet to confirm her feat as a new record breaker.
