Yuletide: 2,350 Civil Defence operatives to provide security in Osun

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,350 personnel in Osun to provide watertight security during Christmas and New Year.
On Wednesday, a statement by Kehinde Adeleke, the spokesperson for NSCDC in Osun, said the personnel were to provide covert and overt intelligence and 24-hour surveillance to nip any crime in the bud.
The NSCDC commandant in Osun, Sunday Agboola, assured the public of a “massive” security arrangement.
The security agency said its personnel would be deployed to worship centres, marketplaces, recreation centres, critical infrastructure, and other flash points in Osun.
“The commandant, therefore, warned miscreants who are planning to cause a breakdown of law and order to have a change of mind, as they would be made to face the full wrath of the law,” said the statement.
The commandant charged personnel to be civil but firm in discharging their duties.
The commandant urged those travelling during the festive period to avoid night travels, speeding, overloading and stopping on lonely roads.
The NSCDC appealed to Osun residents to report suspicious persons to the nearest security agency and its offices in case of any emergency.
“Residents should call any of the following phone numbers – 0805555644 and 07041300031 in the event of an emergency,” the NSCDC said.
