Chess: Eight-year-old wins European blitz championship
Bodhana Sivanandan, an eight-year-old from the United Kingdom, has been crowned the chess women’s best player after winning the European blitz chess championship held in Croatia.
The chess prodigy finished the competiton with a score of 8.5/13, beating seasoned professionals which included an international master and drew with a grandmaster to emerge victorious at the event.
For a blitz time control chess tournament, players have only a few minutes on their clock to make moves.

She started playing chess when she was five-year-old, the BBC reported.
“I always try my best to win, sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t,” Bodhana told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.
“I was very proud of myself when I got top girl in the European blitz.” and when queried about being nervous while playing, she said: “No, I just play the board.”
